Seashore Takes Gold & Wins Record Number Of Medals At Science Olympiad 2019

Congratulations to Seashore fourth graders through middle school students who not only won two gold medals at Science Olympiad 2019. They brought home 12 medals in five categories, setting a Seashore record at Science Olympiad. The daylong timed trial competition was held February 23 at Lambertville Public School. Seashore won for Mini Marshmallow Tower, Aerodynamics, Chopper Challenge, Mystery Powders and Rubberband Catapult. Special thanks to Science Teacher Bob Burt, Social Studies/Math Teacher Chris Stone and Science Substitute Rebecca Nordstrom for doing such a great job teaching STEAM skills students needed to methodically execute tasks and stay cool under pressure with the clock running.

Seashore 7th Grader Takes First In Asbury Park Press Essay Contest

The Seashore School congratulates seventh grader Shea Franco for winning first place in the November Asbury Park Press Student Voices Contest. His essay on the topic “Should Marijuana Be Legalized In New Jersey,” was published in the Press November 27. Shea will be recognized among 2018-19 winners at an awards ceremony.

The Seashore School Wins 2018 Gold & All-Columbian Honors At Columbia University

The Seashore School is extremely proud to announce that Seashore Student Views, produced by last year’s fourth to sixth grade earned 2018 Gold Medalist Status from Columbia University’s Scholastic Press Association, along with All-Columbian Honors. The publication scored 929 out of 1,000 points in a 140 category critique, earning All-Columbian Honors for a near perfect score in Verbal and Essential Categories. The newspaper was rated on the same criterion as seventh through 12th grade students throughout the United States and abroad. This was the student newspaper’s 14th award. During the past 10 years, the publication also won two Crown Awards, four Gold Circle Awards and six silver medals from the Ivy League University.

Seashore 3rd Grader Named Youngest USA Chess Master Ever

Ahbi Mishra, a third-grade student at The Seashore School broke the barrier and became the youngest chess master in the USA ever and is the highest ranked 9 year old in the world. He beat Bobby Fisher’s record. Mishra represented the USA last summer in Brazil, where he missed first by only .5 points.
