Seashore Theater Camp “On Broadway”
Seashore Theater Camp gives children their start “On Broadway” literally. Aspiring actors spend their summer in our Theater Camp “On Broadway” — 410 Broadway in Long Branch, that is. The hit program, which enters its 13th anniversary in 2019, has more than doubled in size – going from 19 to 40 children and establishing itself in the theater community as the place young performers want to be. Boys and girls learn the acting, singing and dance skills needed to put on large-scale productions and still get to participate in daily instructional swim, along with recreational activities and exciting special events with the rest of the camp each Friday.
Campers Shine In Professionally Produced Musicals
It is amazing what happens in seven short weeks. After rehearsing diligently, the curtain goes up on seven to 14-year-olds, who dazzle in Broadway-quality musicals — with live orchestras, authentic costumes, professionally choreographed, high-energy dance numbers and special effects that wow audiences. Since its inception, Seashore Theater Camp “On Broadway” has presented Cinderella, The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, The Sound of Music, Grease, Aladdin, School House Rock, Winnie The Pooh, Legally Blonde, Peter Pan, Alice In Wonderland, Into The Woods, Little Mermaid, Lion King Junior, Shrek The Musical, Mary Poppins Jr and this year’s Seussical. No expense is spared to prepare cast members for their roles. In Little Mermaid, Peter Pan and Mary Poppins, young actors were actually taught to fly by pros from Flying By Foy, an international organization which provides flying effects, Aereography® and state-of-the-art automation for Broadway shows, London’s West End, ballet and opera companies, university theatre programs, theme parks, cruise ships, concert tours, feature films and television productions worldwide.
Participants Go To Tony Winners & Take Workshops With Stars In The Shows They See
Another thing that sets Seashore Theater Camp “On Broadway” apart is our Broadway Show/Workshop Series. Campers not only learn more about acting from the best in the business by going to three Tony-winning musicals each year. They hone their skills by taking workshops at New York City rehearsal studios with actors in these shows, including 1988 Tony Winner Phantom of The Opera, 1998 Tony Winner Lion King, 2003 Tony Winner Hairspray, 2006 Tony Winner Jersey Boys, 2008 Tony Winner In The Heights, 2009 Tony Winner Billy Elliot, 2010 Tony Winner Memphis, 2011 Tony Winner (Best Revival) Anything Goes, 2012 Tony Winner Once, 2013 Tony Winner Kinky Boots, 2015 Tony Winner (for our oldest campers) Fun Home, plus Spider-Man, Wicked, Mary Poppins, Mama Mia, Legally Blonde, Shrek The Musical, Grease, Sister Act, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Newsies, Matilda, Cinderella, Motown, Bullets Over Broadway, Aladdin, Rocky The Musical, Something Rotten, On The Town, Finding Neverland, School Of Rock and Lion King. Children saw internationally acclaimed Come From Away and had the privilege of taking a workshop with Tony-nominated star Chad Kimball. Last year, along with seeing Frozen, Once On This Island and Mean Girls, they took two Master Acting classes in their theatre with Broadway veteran Kerry Butler, who arranged a Meet and Greet with the Mean Girls cast.
The 2019 Schedule Includes Tony Noms Ain’t Too Proud, Beetlejuice and The Prom
Seashore is the ONLY theater camp that gives children a chance to see Ain’t Too Proud July 3, Beetlejuice Jully 10 and The Prom July 24, and take workshops in NYC rehearsal studios with stars in these shows.
Campers Have Gone On To Earn Leads In High School Shows & Win Basie Nominations
Director/Producer/Choreographer Renee Harrison Pincus created Seashore Theater Camp “On Broadway” in 2006. With Co-Director Marie Malera, she teaches children stage presence, character development and technical skills to bring down the house, leave audiences wanting more, gain staring roles in high school shows, and in some cases, win Basie awards and nominations. The close company of performers is as committed to this program and the arts as they are to each other. Their shows are so successful, at the end of each performance, children in the audience say, “That looks like fun. I want to be part of it.”
Conveniences For Parents Like FREE Door-To-Door Transportation
